Tom Harvey – Wild about Cars.

Cars and motors have been a part of my life since I was a very young boy. It all started with making go carts out of self-drive lawn mowers. I owned 21 cars before I even got my driver’s license.  They were all Junkers that didn’t run and rotted out.  I would take these cars, combine parts and get them running and drive them in fields behind my house in Mt. Arlington.

Then, as a young teenager I had my first nice build named “Born to be Wild”. It was a combination of a couple of old Renault’s that I made into a great running, driving car.

I was building and racing cars at Island Dragway the day I turned 18, which was the legal age to run on the track.  I then went into the Service, got married and had children. No more cars until about 20 years ago when I got involved with Street Rods and eventually became president of our club.

It’s been great meeting so many people through our club. We are so lucky to be able to give donations to children with cancer through our charity events we have throughout the year while enjoying such a great hobby.

My three currents cars are a 1931 Ford Model A, 1972 Chevy Nova SS and a 1974 Barracuda.
